For a shorter ride, but no less scenic take a hybrid bike out for the 2-3 hours and take the circular route along the white cliffs to Rottingdean and in to the South Downs.
Head out east towards Brighton Marina, a little skip round the back of the marina and you are on the Undercliff. A path that hugs the bottom of the cliffs for 4km to Rottingdean.
Rottingdean is a historic village, famous for its history of smuggling, being a home to the author Rudyard Kipling and being home to the oldest pub in the Brighton area.
Through Rottingdean, head up the hill on to the South Downs and in to the national park. There are several routes to take, but we recommend heading into the secret valley and out the other side the back of Woodingdean. Pass through the Brighton Racecourse area and you'll then be back down on the seafront.
