Brighton & Hove seafront has many miles of cycle paths that are free of road traffic. However, the majority of the cycle paths run alongside pedestrian areas and at times there is a reduction in space for cyclists and pedestrians to mix.
In these areas all cyclists should remember that it is a cycle path and not a cycle track so should look to share the area with pedestrians. If a collision occurs with a pedestrian on the cycle path then the cyclist could be held liable. Cyclists should always look to remain on the cycle path but must remember that at cycle path crossing points it is up to the cyclists to stop.
